This specimen was lot 42023 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. 2 Kr[eu]zer, 1851-A. Vienna Mint. Franz Joseph I. PCGS PROOF-66 Red Brown. Of the highest RARITY and desirability in Proof format, this brightly lustrous proof offers crystal clear strike, and a nearly as manufactured appearance, being unblighted by any marks or contacts of note." This type was struck in 1851 only at Vienna (A, shown here), Kremnitz (B) and Nagybanya (G). One convention thaler was 120 kreuzer.
Recorded mintage: unknown. The SCWC does not mention any proofs.
Specification: 10.8 g, copper, 25.9 mm diameter, plain edge.
