Sincona sale 97, lot 2054

This specimen was lot 2054 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 50 CHF (about US$73 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. 3 Kreuzer 1851 A, Wien. Vorzüglich-FDC. Leicht gereinigt. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, three kreuzer of 1851, Vienna mint. About Uncirculated, lightly cleaned.)"

This type was struck in 1851 at Vienna ("A"), Kremnitz ("B") and Nagybanya ("G"). One convention thaler was 120 kreuzer.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.

Specification: 16.41 g, copper, 30 mm diameter, plain edge, this specimen 16.21 g.
