This specimen was lot 29071 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $5,170. The catalog description[1] noted, "Franz Joseph I gold Ducat 1851//1898-A MS64 NGC, Vienna mint. Golden jubilee of reign issue. Quite scarce with a mintage of just 2,292 pieces. Additionally, the resplendent luster must place this coin as one of the finer examples extant from this limited mintage." Altho this coin is dated 1851, no ducats were actually minted in Austria that year. These were made in 1898 and backdated for the golden jubilee of Franz Josef's reign.
