This specimen was lot 42022 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. 3 Kreuzer, 1851-G. Nagybanya Mint. Franz Joseph I. PCGS PROOF-65 Red Brown. An impressive and RARE Proof format striking, delivering bold details, with elegant high-facing rims, and some charming electric blue and violet coloration." This type was struck in 1851 only at Vienna (A), Kremnitz (B) and Nagybanya (G, shown here). The first two are common but this one is scarce. One convention thaler was 120 kreuzer.
