This Spanish equivalent of a quarter was struck at the Segovia mint in 1682 during the reign of king Charles II. The SCWC awards it a very low catalog value (the plate coin in the catalog has a hole) but it is a one year type. This well struck, nicely centered coin may be contrasted with the crude cobs being minted at the Latin American mints, where screw presses were not installed until the 18th century. This specimen was lot 467 in a Soler y Llach sale (Barcelona, November 2009).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.87 g, 0.931 fine silver, .205 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: Cayón-7350, KM 105.
