Frankfurt 1622-AE thaler Dav-5289
This specimen was lot 50437 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $382. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. Taler, 1622-AE. NGC XF-45. Struck in the name of Ferdinand II. Toned." This type is listed for 1621-22 but very similar thalers (Dav-5281, -5290 thru -5299), were issued from Frankfurt throughout the seventeenth century.
