Stack's Bowers 2024 NYINC sale, lot 58494
SB124-58494 rev.jpg

This specimen was lot 58494 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 1/4 Riksdaler, 1646. Stockholm Mint. Christina. VERY FINE Details, Plugged. From an Old Brooklyn Collection." This type was struck 1641-46. Some of the 1646 strikes have mintmaster's initials AG and others have the date in Roman numerals. This example, which has neither, is priced as a type coin but is still scarce. The full riksdaler is more often seen.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 7.19 g, 0.878 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-185; SM-41c.
