Künker sale 353, lot 4054

This specimen was lot 4054 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €2,600 (about US$3,619 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. 1/2 Friedrichs d'or 1827, A. Kopf r. GOLD. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. Erworben am 30.11.2006. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William III, 1797-1840, half frederick d'or of 1827, head right. Choice example, about uncirculated.)"

This halb friedrichs d'or accompanied the regular friedrichs d'or (Fr-2429) of 1825-40 but is priced higher. It was worth 2½ thalers.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common for the type.
