Erfurt 1634 ducat Fr-919
This specimen was lot 4353 in Sincona sale 4 (Zurich, October 2011) where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,261 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Erfurt, Stadt Gustav II. Adolf, 1611-1632. Schwedische Besatzung. Dukat 1634. Belorbeertes, drapiertes Brustbild nach rechts. Rv. Krone zwischen geteilter Jahreszahl über fünf Zeilen Schrift. Gutes sehr schön. (Germany, city of Erfurt, Swedish occupation ducat of 1634. Obverse: laureate, draped bust to right; reverse: crown divides date, five line inscription below. Good very fine)."
This coin, featuring the portrait of Gustavus Adolphus, was struck during the Swedish occupation of 1631-48. This type is listed for 1632-34 and is the most common ducat from the town.
