This specimen was lot 72104 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Penny, 1825. London Mint. George IV. PCGS MS-64 Brown Gold Shield. Tied with just two other specimens for the finest certified by PCGS, this deep chocolate-brown near Gem features captivating surfaces and immense luster. Tremendous eye appeal is on full display. From the Regent Crest Collection." This type was struck for George IV 1825-27 and was the first half penny struck since 1806. This is the scarcest of the three year type.
