Bern 1795 duplone Fr-182
This specimen was lot 3164 in Sincona sale 91 (Zurich, May 2024), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,246 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, Duplone 1795, Bern. Vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Bern, duplone of 1795, Extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1794-95. In Geneva, this coin was a pistole; in Luzern, a 12 munzgulden, in Solothurn, a duplone. The coin is modeled on a louis d'or of France.
