This type was struck 1823-27 in large quantities at Rio and Bahia. All known specimens are overstruck, usually on Peruvian or Bolivian portrait dollars but many other undertypes are known. Specimens are even reported struck over counterfeits.

Recorded mintage: 500,000.

Specification: 26.89 g, 0.896 fine silver, .775 troy oz ASW.
