This specimen was lot 5400 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $368. The catalog description [2] noted, "Russia. 1913-VS. Nicholas II. Commemorative, 300 Years Romanov Dynasty. NGC graded MS-62. The Judy Cahn Collection." This type is among the last of the czarist issues. In 1914, Russia plunged into World War One, which conflict would lead to the destruction of the regime.
