This specimen was lot 73458 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $75. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Kopek, 1913-CNB. St. Petersburg Mint. PCGS MS-63 Brown Gold Shield. A choice specimen, this piece presents some underlying iridescence and luster throughout." This type is listed for 1867-1914. The nineteenth century dates are scarce in nice condition but the later dates are common with, of course, the exception of the proofs. In 1914, Russia plunged into World War One, which conflict would lead to the destruction of the regime.
