This specimen was lot 2744 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $107.10. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: Edward VII, 1901-1910, AE ¼ anna, 1910(c), gorgeous iridescent luster, NGC graded MS65 BR." This quarter anna was struck at the Calcutta mint 1906-10. The weight was reduced from 6.48 g in 1906 and thence to 4.72 g in 1912. A quarter anna was one sixty fourth of a rupee.
Recorded mintage: 47,265,000 plus a few restrikes.
