CNG Lissner collection, lot 934

This specimen was lot 934 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $5,142.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN, Reino de España. Isabel II. 1833-1868. AR 10 Reales. De Vellon coinage. Madrid mint. José Luis de Castroviejo and Eugenio de Lara, assayers. Dated 1844 M CL. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 64. Gem very lustrous brilliant uncirculated and a hint of patina. Highest 10 real of Isabella II ever graded by NGC. A true jewel. Purchased from Louis Collins, June 1972." This type was struck for Spain in Madrid 1840-45 and Seville 1841-43. This specimen is a common date for the type but the type is scarce overall.
