This specimen was lot 20314 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $1,380. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Sovereign, 1835. London Mint. William IV. PCGS AU-50 Gold Shield. An attractive survivor exhibiting signs of handling consistent for the grade with plenty of luster in the protected areas and light attractive pale orange tone adding to its pleasing appearance sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters. From the Collection of Richard Jewell." This type is listed for 1831-37 and is expensive despite the substantial mintage.
