Stack's Bowers 2019 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72109

This specimen was lot 72109 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1835. London Mint. William IV. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. With virtually unnoticeable wear, this high attractive example still offers a good deal of mint luster under its splendidly toned, original surfaces. From the Regent Crest Collection." This type was struck 1831 and 1834-37 and is fairly available in circulated condition.

Recorded mintage: 1,449,000.

Specification: 5.65 g, 0.925 fine silver, reeded edge.
