Great Britain 1835 3 pence

from the Mountain Groan Collection

This silver three pence or "thrup'ny bit" was struck during the reign of William IV, king of Britain 1830-37. The type was struck 1831-37 tho the 1831-33 dates were struck only for the Maundy sets. The type is not easy to find.

Recorded mintage: 2,904 struck for Maundy sets plus 491,000 struck for circulation.

Specification: 1.41 g, 0.925 fine silver, .042 troy oz ASW.
