Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 3268

This specimen was lot 3268 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $176.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. 2 Reales, 1823-PJ. PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder. Attractive toning present. Luster shows through with sharp details. Quite nice for type." This is an example of a type struck 1813-25 at Potosi, Bolivia (then called Upper Peru). It superseded the bust of Carlos IV. Assayer PJ is listed for 1803-25.
