This specimen was lot 21672 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,955. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos IIII gold 8 Escudos 1800-IJ, AU58 NGC, virtually full mint brilliance with appealing old-time patina, a superior example for this series. From the Don Benito Collection of Hispanic Gold." This coin was minted 1792-1808 and is the most common Peruvian colonial eight escudos.
