This specimen was lot 21673 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,557. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos IIII gold 8 Escudos 1801-IJ, AU55 NGC, boldly struck with abundant mint luster, a very attractive piece. From the Don Benito Collection of Hispanic Gold." This coin was minted 1792-1808 and is the most common Peruvian colonial eight escudos.
