Bavaria 1859 thaler Dav-606
This specimen was lot 24768 in Heritage sale 3015 (Long Beach, September 2011), where it sold for $1,725. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bavaria. Maximilian II Taler 1859, Proof 65 PCGS, superb old-time patina with iridescent surfaces, very flashy and attractive." This type is listed for 1857-64 but no proofs are mentioned. The thalers of these years are considerably shrunken from those before the 1830's.
