Sincona sale 18, lot 1274

This specimen was lot 1274 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Vereinstaler 1857. München. Vorzüglich. (kingdom of Bavaria, union thaler of 1857, Munich mint, extremely fine.)"

This type is listed for 1857-64 but no proofs are mentioned. The thalers of these years are considerably shrunken from those before the 1830's.

Recorded mintage: 1,560,413.

Specification: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver, .536 troy oz ASW, this specimen 18.51 g.
