This specimen was issued by Gambia in 1971 only. The reverse depicts a double-spurred francolin. Formerly a British colony embedded in Senegal, a series of sterling coinage was issued for it for one year only in 1966. This was replaced by decimal coinage in 1971, with 100 bututs = 1 dalasis. The next ten bututs was issued in 1998.

Recorded mintage: 3,000,000 + 32,000 proofs.

Specification: 6.2 g, nickel brass, 25.9 mm diameter.
