This specimen was issued by Gambia in 1966 only. Formerly a British colony surrounded by Senegal, a series of sterling coinage was issued for it for one year only in 1966. This was replaced by decimal coinage in 1971.

Recorded mintage: 2,500,000.

Specification: copper-nickel.
