This specimen was lot 30307 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $4,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "China, People's Republic platinum Proof "Year of the Dragon" 100 Yuan (1 oz) 1988 PR70 Ultra Cameo NGC, Lunar issue. A flawless selection of the type, sold with COA #1263 and original case of issue." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. The gold panda is the most popular.
