This specimen was lot 30280 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles IV gold 8 Escudos 1804 LM-JP MS61 NGC, Lima mint. Sharply struck and attractive for the assigned grade with fully lustrous fields and the expected surface abrasions well within the confines of the designation. A very scarce and desirable grade for this popular gold Colonial issue." This coin was minted 1792-1808 and is the most common Peruvian colonial eight escudos. Assayer IJ is reported for this date.
