This specimen was lot 34580 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "Scotland: Charles I 12 Shillings ND (1637-1642) AU50 NGC, Edinburgh mint, Third coinage, Falconer's second issue with F and thistle. Lavender gray and graphite toned flan with a fully detailed portrait and strong legends." This type, equal to an English shilling, is not expensive. This denomination was struck in numerous varieties and was accompanied by 60 shillings, 30 shillings, 6 shillings, 1/2 merk, 40 pence and 20 pence. Scottish coinage ended in 1707 with the Act of Union.
