This specimen was lot 195 in Aureo & Calicó sale 238 (Barcelona, November 2011), where it sold for 210 euro (about US$333 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1817. Lima. JP. 8 reales. Bella. Parte de brillo original. Rara así. EBC+. (eight reales of 1817, Lima mint, handsome, lustrous, choice extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1811-24 for Ferdinand VII and is common. Wide and narrow date varieties are recorded for the year. Assayer JP is recorded for 1803-23.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
