Aureo sale 238, lot 525

This specimen was lot 525 in Aureo & Calicó sale 238 (Barcelona, November 2011), where it sold for 460 euro (about US$730 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1793. Sevilla. CN. 8 reales. Golpecito. Buen ejemplar. Rara. MBC+. (Eight reales of 1793, Seville mint. Nice example, rare, choice very fine.)"

This type is recorded in the SCWC from Seville for 1788-1808. All are scarce compared to the enormous output of the Latin American mints. The bust type was introduced to the Spanish mints in 1772.
