Wurttemberg 1812-ILW thaler Dav-945
Revision as of 14:01, 20 June 2025 by LatinKing2020 (talk | contribs) (Text replacement - "Zurich:" to "Zürich:")
This specimen was lot 3877 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$411 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Württemberg, 1806 Königreich Friedrich II. (I.), 1797-1816. Kronentaler 1812. Sehr schön. (Kingdom of Württemberg, Frederick II (I), crown thaler of 1812, very fine.)"
This type was struck 1812 only and is scarce to rare as are most Wurttemberg thalers before 1825 (see Dav-954). The rather thuggish portrait cannot have pleased the new king.
Recorded mintage: 15,000.
Specification: 29.49 g, 0.868 fine silver, this specimen 29,17 g.
