Stack's Bowers November 2022 Collectors Choice sale, lot 74791
SB1122-74791r.jpg

This specimen was lot 74791 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Wurttemberg. Taler, 1864. Stuttgart Mint. Wilhelm I. PCGS MS-62. A lovely example, this Taler represents the type well with bold details from a strong strike and a touch of burnished toning near the uppermost periphery." This type was struck 1857-64 and is fairly common; no date receives a premium. One thaler was 120 kreuzer.

Recorded mintage: 532,000.

Specification: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-959; KM-601; J-83.
