G146-1130r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1130 in Goldberg Sale 146 (Los Angeles, July 2025), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bohemia. Taler, 1598. Kuttenberg mint. Rudolf II. This particular type is a product of the Kuttenberg mint for 1578-1602; the issues of 1601-02 are catalogued as Dav-3023. Davenport lists over 130 different thalers for Austria in the sixteenth century. The Kuttenberg or Kutná Hora mint in Bohemia was an important producer of coin until it was wrecked during the Thirty Years War.
