Sincona sale 19, lot 331

This specimen was lot 331 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 1,650 (about US$2,068 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Grivennik 1795, St. Petersburg Mint. Rare. 3 roubles acc. to Iljin. Minor scratch. About uncirculated and lustrous." This coin, struck in this style 1783-96, is just a little light to be classified as a dime, tho it is one tenth of a ruble. This denomination was also struck in copper.

Recorded mintage: 1,230,000.

Specification: 2.37 g, 0.750 fine silver, this specimen 2.27 g.
