This specimen was lot 42537 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $7,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 5 Rubles, 1795-CNB. St. Petersburg Mint. Catherine II "the Great". NGC VF-35. A RARER date from late in the reign of the famous empress, this evenly circulated specimen presents an alluring pale yellow hue along with some hints of iridescence among the fields. A few die cracks are noted among the legends, augmenting its individual charm that much more." This type was struck 1783-96 and superseded the five rubles of the Czarina Elizabeth which were 8.23 grams.
