Künker sale 423, lot 116

This specimen was lot 116 in Künker Auction 423 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €4,200 (about US$5,947 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Ferdinand II., 1592-1618-1637. Reichstaler 1623, Hall. Geharnischtes Brustbild r. mit Lorbeerkranz, Halskrause, umgelegtem Mantel und der Kette des Ordens vom Goldenen Vlies, zu den Seiten die geteilte Jahreszahl 16 - Z3//Gekröntes, mehrfeldiges Wappen (Ungarn, Tirol, Böhmen / Habsburg, Österreich, Burgund, Kastilien / Kärnten, Krain, Steiermark, Görz / Burgund, Schwaben, Württemberg, Elsaß), umher die Kette des Ordens vom Goldenen Vlies. R Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Exemplar der Auktion Leu 27, Zürich 1980, Nr. 63. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdianand II, 1592-1618-1637, thaler of 1623, Hall mint. Obverse: armored, mantled, laureate and ruffed bust right with order chain dividing the date; reverse: crowned manifold arms of Hungary, Tyrol, Bohemia, Hapsburg, Austria, Burgundy, Castile, Carinthia, Carniola, Styria, Gorizia, Swabia, Wurttemberg and Alsace, order chain around. Scarce, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1621-23 and is uncommon.The SCWC lists numerous thalers for 1623:
