Sincona sale 13, lot 2681

This specimen was lot 2681 in Sincona sale 13 (Zurich, October 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"NORWEGEN, Karl XIV. Johann, 1818-1844. 1/2 Speciedaler (60 Skilling) 1827. Selten. Vorzüglich-FDC (Norway, Charles XIV Johan, 1818-44, half specie daler (60 skilling) of 1827. Rare, extremely fine to uncirculated)."

Norway passed from Danish to Swedish rule in 1807. This type was issued by Sweden for Norway 1827-44. Most dates are rare; this one is only scarce.

Recorded mintage: 70,000.

Specification: 14.45 g, .875 fine silver, .406 troy oz ASW, this specimen 14.45 g.
