Sincona sale 84, lot 349

This specimen was lot 349 in Sincona sale 84 (Zurich, October 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, Kopeck 1841, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB. Variety with no dot after date. About very fine. Edge nicks. From the Soedermann Collection."

This type was struck at the Izhora branch of the St. Petersburg mint 1840-43 and has a modest catalog value. The reverse legend, "❁ 1 ❁/КОПѢЙКА/СЕРЕБРОМЪ", means "one kopek silver."

Recorded mintage: 11,200,000 for 1840-43.

Specification: 10.24 g, copper, 27 mm diameter, this specimen 9.98 g.
