This specimen was lot 24666 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos IV gold 8 Escudos 1792 Mo-FM, AU58 PCGS, fully lustrous and attractive with well-struck details, very close to mint state." This type was struck in Mexico 1792-1808 and is the most available of Mexican colonial eight escudos but remains expensive. Assayer FM is noted for the years 1784-1801.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, .761 troy oz AGW.
