India 1924 1-12 anna rev DSLR.jpg

The twelfth anna was 1/192nd of a rupee and was the smallest denomination struck under the predecimal system. It was struck in moderate numbers throughout the Raj until 1942. The 1924 is common. The absence of a dot below the date marks this as a product of the Calcutta mint. The Bombay mint also struck this type 1923-28 and 1936.

Recorded mintage: 7,200,000 plus 9,869,000 from Bombay.

Specification: 1.60 g, bronze, 17.4 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 509.
