Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 56590

This specimen was lot 56590 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 1/4 Anna, 1924-(B). Bombay Mint. George V. PCGS MS-63 Brown." This quarter anna was struck at the Bombay mint after World War One. The type was struck 1912-20, 1924-36 and is common in all grades but still makes a handsome coin in nice condition. This is a common date. The Calcutta mint also struck this type. A quarter anna was one sixty-fourth of a rupee.

Recorded mintage: 16,322,000 plus proofs, a common date.

Specification: 4.72 g, bronze, 25.4 mm diameter.
