from Stephen Album sale 43, lot 945

This specimen was lot 945 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: George V, 1910-1936, AE ¼ anna, 1921(c), later Bombay mint proof restrike, PCGS graded Proof 64 RD, ex Arvind Sanghvi Collection." This quarter anna was struck at the Calcutta mint after World War One. The type was struck 1912-36 and is common in all grades but still makes a handsome coin in nice condition. The Bombay mint also struck this type but only in 1924-28, 1930 and 1936. A quarter anna was one sixty-fourth of a rupee.
