This specimen was lot 4271 in Goldberg sale 70 (Los Angeles, September 2012), where it sold for $143.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italian States - Milan. Lira, 1786-LB. Joseph II. Reverse: Crowned oval shield. Surface flaking and polished. Very Fine." Like many early Italian minors, this type struck 1781-90 doesn't catalog for much but is seldom seen. After the fall of Napoleon in 1815, it returned to Hapsburg rule until the unification of Italy in 1859-60.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 5.33-6.25 g, silver, 26 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-208; CNI V, 407,43; Montengro-114.
