This specimen was lot 72539 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $110. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Cent, 1827. Utrecht Mint; privy mark: torch. William I. PCGS MS-63 Brown Gold Shield. Choice and quite captivating, this chocolate brown specimen features some delightful hints of red wonderfully highlighting the devices." This type was struck in Utrecht and Brussels 1817-31 and 1837 for William I. The 1827 is common. After Belgium obtained her independence in 1830, the Brussels mint continued striking for the new country while the Utrecht mint operates to this day for the Dutch government.
