Sincona sale 20, lot 3087

This type was struck in Utrecht and Brussels 1818-28. The 1827-B is scarce. After Belgium obtained her independence in 1830, the Brussels mint continued striking for the new country while the Utrecht mint operates to this day for the Dutch government. When the denomination was resumed in 1848, the fineness was raised to .640 and the weight reduced to 1.4 g. This specimen was lot 3087 in Sincona sale 20 (Zürich, October 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "5 Cents 1827. Brüssel. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (very fine to extremely fine.)"

Specification: 0.84 g, .569 fine silver, 15 mm diameter, this specimen 0.80 g.
