This specimen was part of lot 44137 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. A further trio of 1 Reales from the 1840s, all graded by PCGS. Included are 1843-RS. Bogotá. EF-45. *1844-RS. Bogotá. EF-40; 1844-UM. Popayán. VF-35. (Total: 3 pieces). From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was struck 1839-41, 1844-46 at Popayan and 1837-46 at Bogotá. Nueva Granada was a Centralist Republic created upon the dissolution of Gran Colombia in 1830. The region held this name until 1858, when the Granadine Confederation was formed.
