This specimen was issued by Iran as part of the F.A.O. series. This type was issued in 1971-75. One of the shah's acts that enraged his many enemies was to place his portrait on the coinage, a sacrilege according to strictest Islam.

Recorded mintage: 8,605,000.

Specification: 1.76 g, copper-nickel, 18.5 mm diameter.
