This specimen was issued by Iran as part of the F.A.O. series. This type was issued in 1978 only. One of the shah's acts that enraged his many enemies was to place his portrait on the coinage, a sacrilege according to strictest Islam. The shah was deposed the year after this coin was issued.
Recorded mintage: 5,000,000.
