This specimen was lot 75683 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. 1/4 Pahlavi, MS 2537 (1978). Tehran Mint. Muhammad Reza Pahlavi. NGC MS-66." This type was struck SH 1353-MS 2537. Four of these coins contained the same amount of gold as a British sovereign. The shah was overthrown in 1979 and he died the next year. The Islamic revolutionaries who seized control promptly abandoned his MS calendar.
